Our Areas of Expertise
AQUACULTURE | FEEDS | RESEARCH
We support companies interested in aquaculture feed markets. Our team is specialized in feed formulation, manufacture and test.
How We Work
QUICK and PRAGMATIC, we assist our clients in choosing their target markets, implementing their sales and marketing strategy, and conducting preliminary testing prior to launching their product. We work directly with the client in order to tailor our methods to their needs.
Any company with an interest in the aquaculture markets will find that our team is the ideal partner to help them increase their efficiency and identify the right channels to accelerate the development of their business.
TRIALS
We have our own research centre for testing your products in an aquatic environment. As specialists in feed and nutrition, we focus on the functionality of ingredients: digestibility, palatability, growth, feed conversion, etc.
Aware of the specificities of aquaculture, we also strive to support our customers in understanding the behavior of their ingredients in the factory (granulation or extrusion) and in water (leaching, changes in composition in fresh water or salt water, etc.).
Our team of experts specialising in mortality in farmed fish and shellfish will help you set up tests to answer the questions raised by the markets and your customers. We can also assist you in analysing and evaluating data from your research on cold-blooded species around the world.
Halieutica runs its own experimental station. This facility is dedicated to the study of shrimp and enables hundreds of tests to be carried out each year.
These facilities are available for our customers and research partners. They enable us to collect objective and reliable data on the interactions between feed and performance.
The tests conducted focus in particular on the following:
– Tests on the behavior of ingredients and feed in water: nutrient leaching, diffusion of appetite factors, water resistance and buoyancy.
– Growth performance, with measurement of feed conversion ratio (FCR), specific growth rate (SGR) or weight gain.
– Analysis of the link between nutrition and final product quality, including pigmentation, fatty acid profiles and muscle firmness.
– Ingredients functionality, including palatability and attractiveness assesment.
– The environmental impact of ingredients and pellets.
– The digestibility of ingredients or the impact of an additive on the digestibility of feed.
The methods implemented are the result of our research and development work. Our facilities are designed to adapt to your needs. The protocols are the outcome of a collaborative approach with our partners.

CONSULTING
We support aquaculture stakeholders with our expertise in formulation, ingredients, and manufacturing processes. We also conduct trials on digestibility, growth, and animal behavior using proven tools and methods.
Our in-depth knowledge of the ingredients used by fish and crustaceans feed millers enables us to support our clients at each and every step of product development. We collaborate with stakeholders throughout the production chains, supporting their efforts to formulate and optimize the technical and economic aspects of aquaculture pellets.
Developing functional and rational ingredient databases that enable our partners to formulate reliably and quickly is an integral part of our expertise.
Our expertise in linear optimization software (such as Allix3 and BESTMIX) allows us to adapt to any request for support from players in the aquafeed business: feed reformulation, implementation of a new range, calculation of the shadow price of an ingredient, opportunity studies, etc.
We assist anyone interested in fish and shrimp feeds, from farmers who produce feed on their farms to industrial manufacturers with granulation or extrusion lines. Our goal is always to help you identify where there is room for improvement in your feeds.
Beyond formulation, we support our customers in choosing the best conditions for grinding, weighing, mixing, cooking, shaping, drying, and storage. Recent work has also enabled us to make progress on the best methods for coating at the farm.
